The Original Carmina Burana
ONLINE CONCERT VIDEO
While Carmina Burana may have gotten its claim to fame in 1937 by composer Carl Orff, the original version deserves just as much attention. This medieval manuscript collected and composed by 13th-century Bavarian clerical students contains unabashedly joyful and passionate songs about love, spring, drinking, philosophy, politics, and more, and it offers a fascinating glimpse into life in the late Middle Ages. With poetry and music both sensual and refined, satirical and sincere, we've rated this concert "PG-13" and highlighted our 10-piece medieval orchestra and early music soloists.
Footage was taken from our March 2-3, 2024 concerts. The venue for both performances was Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 2111 Alexander Avenue, Austin, TX 78722.
This video will be available from April 30 until Sunday, June 9 at 11:30 pm CDT. Tickets may be purchased up until 9:30 pm CDT on Sunday, June 9.
Instructions to view the concert will be included in your confirmation email! Contact admin@early-music.org with any questions or issues.
